Sanath is not the reason we lost – Stop hitting a man when he is down !
May 14, 2010For all those ungrateful morons who keep jumping up and down screaming that Sanath Jayasuriaya is the reason we lost, needs to head their heads re-examined.
A few years ago those same morons were rooting for “Sana” when he was smashing attacks all over the place.
Sanath is past his prime and should have retired. Somehow he was chosen to play, and was an epic failure. But he was just one player. What about the rest ???
Didn’t they fail as well ???
When Sana was winning us matches on his own, nobody complains, but when he failed one tournament badly, all these dicks are having a field day.
We Sri Lankans love to bash a person when they are down and going through the darkest moments in their life.
I don’t give a shit about Sanath’s politics, nor his affiliation with Mahinda. When he steps onto the field, he is a cricketer.
agree…
“When he steps onto the field, he is a cricketer.”
though you and the majority in the country believes in the above quote, the regime does not!
The problem goes far beyond his consistently insipid performances.
He is creating division and frustration in the team by forcibly keeping his spot in the playing 11 using political influence.
When he has come out to bat he has hardly shown any aggressive intent in terms of playing shots or running between wickets.
It’s like Sri Lanka’s playing with 10 players against an opposition of 11.
Sanath needs to stop making a fool of himself and our country!
His selfishness in hanging on to the place in the team is causing untold issues and preventing a more deserving player of the chance.
GO HOME SANATH…! YOU’RE A FLOP…!
“Sanath needs to stop making a fool of himself and our country!”
I totally agree.
I don’t know about political influence, but even if there is no such influence, the way he is being included while being an epic failure will create doubts in anybodys mind.
It’s sad to see a player of his calibre being reduced to this.
Sanath Jayasuriya WAS a great cricketer, perhaps the best all rounder to play the game for Sri Lanka. I have an immense respect & a sense of gratitude towards him. Yet, he is not the man who won us the 1996 world cup any more. That aggression is gone, hands are slowing down & lacking the power & venom they possessed in his prime. In my opinion a player cannot retain his place for ever just because of the past glories. The game moves on & any side who clings on to the same old folks who did well back then are sure to go down. Having played as much cricket as he has, “Sana” should be the first to understand this. Look at Shane Bond who recently retired from all forms of cricket just because he cannot deliver his best any more, but who could have retained his place for many more years if he decided to play. There lies the glory of a man, who knows when his time is up, & I want “Sana” to be remembered as a player who retired with grace & glory for what he has achieved for Sri Lanka. Hope it is not too late already.
“When he steps onto the field, he is a cricketer.” – if that were only true. Unfortunately this is Sri Lanka and that is simply not the case. Sanath once he got into politics should have done the right thing and stepped down from cricket. Now he is just a has-been desperately trying to stay in the team by any means possible. I used to admire the man greatly simply for his attitude on the field, now I don’t even watch cricket because of him.
